A local charity has launched a campaign to help keep older people in the county hydrated and healthy during the warmer weather.

While older people are being asked to self-isolate during the pandemic, Age UK Northamptonshire is working hard to make sure crucial elements of their health and wellbeing are maintained.

The hydration and nutrition campaign includes fruit baskets delivered to people in the county suffering with dementia and hot ‘n’ cold flasks that can keep tea warm and water cold, as well as support and guidance about keeping well in the hot weather.

Fern Overton, day care and transport service manager at Age UK Northamptonshire said: “We are very grateful for the donations towards our campaign. Helping our clients maintain their physical health is so important and we know it’ll also have a positive impact on their mental health, in what is a really difficult time.

“We’re looking forward to rolling out the rest of the campaign, which will include delivering ice lollies.”

The hydration and nutrition campaign will run for the rest of May, as dehydration can be dangerous for older people and could cause severe health problems.
