A Northampton theatre has been forced to postpone the show it had planned for this weekend due to coronavirus.

The Deco, in Abington Square, was due to host ‘Seven Drunken Nights - The Story of the Dubliners’ on Friday (March 20).

Following Boris Johnson’s press conference yesterday (March 16), when he said theatres should be avoided, The Deco has made the decision to postpone the performance.

A spokesman for the theatre said: “Friday night’s performance of Seven Drunken Nights has been postponed.

“We are working to message individual people to let them know.

“The wellbeing of our audiences, performers and staff is paramount and we will do what we can to remain safe and healthy.

“At the moment we are going week to week as we do not know how long this will go on for.

“The next performance is on March 28 which is Johnny Ball’s Wonders Behind Numbers. This is still on at the moment but this could change.

“Anything that gets postponed will be rescheduled for later in the year.”
