Northamptonshire has highest the highest figure in the country for delivering both doses to 23.2 per cent of the over-80s age group

More than 20,000 jabs were delivered during the first week the county's mass testing centre at Moulton Park boosted capacity — despite two days of snow causing some disruption to the roll-out.

The Government sent a target of vaccinating 15million people nationwide in the top four priiority groups — including 135,000 in Northamptonshire — by February 15.

Today's figures leaves the county's NHS teams less than 30,000 short of reaching that target.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock yesterday admitted Northamptonshire is "going great guns" delivering the vaccines so many people in just over six weeks since the roll-out started.

And he saluted the medics, GPs, support workers and volunteers, saying: "This doesn't happen by magic — it happens by by hard graft from the people who are doing such a great job in Northants."
