Northamptonshire's two main hospitals have gone two days without announcing any new Covid-19 victims for the first time in nearly three months.

No deaths among patients at Northampton General and Kettering General hospital have been added to the official figures released in a daily NHS bulletin since Saturday.

The last time the figures were announced without any additions on successive days was on March 25 — when the death toll across Northamptonshire was three and there were just 43 positives cases in the county.

Now, the figures stand at 475 dead — 269 at Northampton and 206 at Kettering — and 1,616 positive tests according to the latest published figures.

Numbers covering the latest number of victims are generally lower at weekends when there is a lag in the reporting and registration processes.

The highest number of deaths recorded by both Northamptonshire hospitals in a single day was 17 on April 23.

A further 124 victims have died in Northamptonshire care homes up to June 5, according to data from the Care Quality Commission.

Just a week ago, the figure was also zero at the two hospitals but climbed to 13 by Wednesday.

A tenth person has died while under the care of the Northamptonshire Health Foundation Trust which offers mental health, community nursing, sexual health and physiotherapy services within the county and also at prisons in Staffordshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Warwickshire. No locations were confirmed for any of these deaths so they are not be counted in these totals for Northamptonshire.

Official figures showed no deaths in the two hospitals on June 8, June 2 and May 25 — although one more victim was shown under NHFT's care on the two latter dates — and May 10.

All of those dates coincided with weekends, when figures locally and nationally tend to be lower because of a lag in the reporting process.

A mobile Covid-19 testing site has been set up at Silverstone today offering appointments for those with coronavirus symptoms.

Testing is strictly by appointment only — which can made online HERE — and is only for those with Covid-19 symptoms including a new, continuous cough; high temperature; loss of or change in sense of smell or taste. The unit will be at Silverstone tomorrow and Wednesday before moving on.

Northamptonshire Health and Care Partnership shared a video showing what to expect when you turn up for a test.

Similar units have been in operation in Northampton, Kettering and Corby in the last week or so. Essential workers will be given priority for appointments.
