It has taken six days for a video of a press conference held in the wake of the Greencore Covid-19 outbreak in Northampton to be uploaded for the public to see for themselves.

The press conference organised by Northamptonshire County Council last week (August 14) was led by the director of public health Lucy Wightman, the leader of the borough council Jonathan Nunn and county cabinet member Ian Morris for the press to scrutinize the outbreak of nearly 300 cases that week.

But, despite repeated requests from the Chronicle & Echo throughout this week, a recording of the conference was only uploaded to the council's own "Northamptonshire Democracy" YouTube page last night (August 20), six days late.

The previous week's meeting on August 7 was was uploaded on the same day.

The press conference can be viewed in full here.It comes as the council is preparing to hold the next coronavirus press conference today at 3pm.

Former Northampton North MP Sally Keeble said: "I think it's really important that they increase the amount of transparency about what they are doing and that includes making sure people can see these press conferences live or make sure people can see it straight away on YouTube."
