Another grim milestone passed as number of Northamptonshire's Covid-19 victims tops 400

More than 400 Covid-19 victims have died in Northamptonshire according to latest grim figures released on Tuesday (May 12).
Eight more patients have been reported as dying in the county's two main hospitals, taking the toll to 324 among NHS patients.

Hide AdAnd Office for National Statistics data added 17 to the number of residents in Northamptonshire care homes whose death is linked to the coronavirus between May 2 and May 8.
That adds to the 64 deaths previously reported by the ONS and takes the sobering total to 405 victims in both settings.
Three of the latest Covid-19 victims died at Northampton General Hospital, one of May 7 and two on May 9, taking the total at the Cliftonville site to 196 since the bug claimed its first victims in the county on March 16.
Kettering General Hospital confirmed five more deaths between May 7 and May 10. The toll there now stood at 128 when the data was collated at 5pm on Monday (May 11).

Hide AdAcross the UK, 32,692 people have now died in all settings after testing positive for Covid-19. That is a rise of 627 on Monday's total.
The number of positive Covid-19 tests in Northamptonshire reached 1,165 according to latest Department of Health and Social Care figures, a rise of 15 fresh cases the 24-hour period up to 9am yesterday (Tuesday May 12).
