A-Levels: Kettering Buccleuch Academy

Kettering Buccleuch Academy students are off to universities including Cambridge and Oxford after picking up their A-Level results last week.

More than 60 students have now accepted university places with 23 off to Russell Group universities after an unprecedented year, which saw no exams held and grades instead predicted by teachers because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Gabriela Toma is off to Cambridge's Downing College to study veterinary science, and Dinglian Chen will study law at Oxford's Worcester College.

Other impressive successes include: Denisa Corcimariuc, who will be reading international relations and modern languages at the University of Exeter, Owen Wilson, who will be reading natural sciences at the University of Birmingham, Dylan Mutebi, who will be reading engineering at the University of Sheffield, Hannah Luo, who will be reading modern languages at the University of Birmingham and Leon Pipe, who will be reading law at the University of Liverpool.

Sam Rao, assistant principal and head of sixth form, said: “We are so proud of every KBA student that has completed their A-Levels this year. A-Level provision at KBA continues to go from strength to strength and this year’s cohort is the largest the academy has ever had.

"They have demonstrated resilience and ambition and they are now ready to take the next steps in their bright and exciting futures. We wish them every success as they move onto university, employment or further training.”

Principal Dino Di Salvo added: “Congratulations to all our sixth formers. It is fantastic to see the hard work and determination they have put into their studies over the past two years pay off, with so many of them gaining places at the country’s top universities.

"It is thanks to the ongoing academic and pastoral care given by our staff at KBA, and the first-class UCAS support provided by our sixth form team, that our students have been able to secure places at their first-choice universities.

"I wish all of our young people the best of luck as they embark on their next steps.”
