A new app has been launched to support businesses in Raunds.

Throughout the pandemic Raunds Town Council has tried to support local businesses, with shop front grants and free 'A' frame boards being offered to high street retailers, as well as free advertising for all local businesses through their digital notice boards.

The app offers free listings to all local businesses, lets you know which businesses are currently operating a click and collect service, and gives app users exclusive special offers.

And it is proving popular with more than 500 downloads in the first few days since its launch.

More than 200 businesses are listed on the app, with another 25 getting in touch since the launch to be added to it.

Mandy Field of Raunds-based estate agent Frosty Fields said: "We are thrilled to be part of the app, it looks so professional and is a great way to promote our business."

As well as supporting local businesses, the app will be packed with local information, news and events, and will shortly include walking trails and new features.

Cllr Lee Wilkes, chairman of the council's environment leisure and recreation committee, said: "The council is fully committed to doing whatever it can to help support residents and businesses, never more so than during the current global pandemic.

"We are delighted that our digital notice boards have been such a success, and that the free advertising boards have proven so popular.

"The launch of the Raunds Town App, which is the culmination of months of work behind the scenes, is yet another step in supporting our local businesses, with the added benefit of being able to keep all residents updated on latest news, events and special offers.

"We hope everyone in the town downloads the app and continues to support our superb local businesses."

A council spokesman added: "As well as supporting local businesses, we will be able to send notifications to all app users about important local information such as flooding, or updates on Covid restrictions."

The app is available to all smart phone users and can be downloaded free from your normal app store by searching for Raunds Town App.
