Shoppers at Northamptonshire retail chain given share of £570,000 as a thank you

Shoppers who are members of Central England Co-op in Northamptonshire have been given a share of more than £570,000 handed out as a thank you for their loyalty.

The society operates hundreds of stores across the country, including 18 in Northamptonshire.

Now, shoppers can use their dividend when they next visit a Central England Co-op to pick up food and vital essentials.

Central England Co-Op has donated money to range of good causes in recent months including:

* Installing over 300 lifesaving defibrillators outside food stores and funeral homes

* Launching a ground-breaking project with FareShare Midlands to redistribute food and create over one million meals a year for people in need

* £180,000 being shared between 115 charities and good causes via its Community Dividend Fund

Debbie Robinson, Central England Co-op chief executive, said: “Our members mean a lot to us and I want to thank them for their loyalty.

“Throughout the year, we give a share of our profits not only to our members, but to local community groups too. It’s because of them that we’re able to help.

“It’s why membership makes a real difference and it’s thanks to them that we are able to give back to our communities in the way we do.”
