Kettering's Frankie & Benny's restaurant is not one of more than 100 earmarked for closure, the chain has confirmed.

Owners The Restaurant Group said they had been on the "sharp end of the Covid-19 pandemic" and entered into a company voluntary arrangement to restructure with reports estimating about 125 restaurant closures and the potential loss of more than 2,000 jobs.

Restaurants have been closed since March because of the coronavirus lockdown and the firm is yet to confirm which restaurants, which serve up a variety of American and Italian dishes, will not re-open.

But a Frankie & Benny's spokesman told the Northants Telegraph that Kettering's restaurant in Pegasus Court will remain open and will be opened in due course.

The spokesman said: “We are delighted to confirm this site will be re-opening in due course for our guests.

"Please look out for further announcements on our social media channels and website as to when exactly we will be open.”

Six restaurants will open for dine-in customers from July 13, including nearby Peterborough Boongate, with a simplified menu and reduced opening hours to allow for thorough cleaning.

When Kettering's will re-open is yet to be confirmed.
