Anyone heading to Cornwall may find a little piece of Kettering...

A popular Kettering gift shop has opened its second branch - more than 300 miles away in Cornwall.

Anyone who walks along Kettering's High Street can't miss The Bean Hive's bright pink facade and visitors to Falmouth will now see a similar sight after they opened a near identical shop, The Bean Hive by the Sea.

Like its sister shop in Kettering the Falmouth store, which opened last Saturday (September 12) right by the sea in Arwenack Street, will be full of items sold by independent traders.

It will be run by The Bean Hive owner Davina Parkhouse's daughter Emelye, 24, and her friend Molly.

Davina said: "This year has already been a bit of a curveball, so we thought we might as well add to the craziness and open a shop 312 miles away.

"We are just going for it. There's lots of independent shops down there and the locals are loving it."

The Cornwall shop will sell some items made in Northamptonshire, and the Kettering shop will sell some items made in Cornwall.

The new venture is already proving popular - and left some holidaymakers from Kettering bemused when they saw it.

Davina said: "I was in the window and I could hear these people talking and then they asked if we were a chain.

"They said 'there's one of these where I come from' and I said 'oh, is that Kettering?' They couldn't believe it."

The Bean Hive celebrated its second birthday earlier this month and Davina is hoping to open more stores in the future.

She wants to open another shop in Cornwall and a further shop in Northamptonshire - although she isn't sure where just yet.

She is also celebrating after The Bean Hive made the finals of The Greats Awards 2020 in the Best Newcomer - Midlands, North and Scotland category

Davina said it was like the Oscars for shops with John Lewis winning a category last year and she was "chuffed to be included".
