Top trumpeter to appear at Castle

A master trumpeter will be making a unique appearance at The Castle Theatre in Wellingborough next week.

David Staff plays on Friday September 25 which is being launched by baroque chamber group Fiori Musicali.

At the forefront of the revival of the baroque trumpet, David Staff was a founding member and principal trumpet with Frans Brüggen’s Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century and he will be revealing the secret art of baroque trumpet-playing and making as he makes thbaroque instruments that he plays.

He will be performing Corelli’s Sonata for Trumpet, and giving audiences the opportunity to discover something about the lost art of playing the baroque trumpet.

He will also be in conversation with Fiori’s director Penelope Rapson at 12.30pm at the theatre with a light buffet lunch included.

Penelope Rapson, Fiori’s director, said: “Fiori’s mission is to bring great professional music to Northamptonshire and this is a marvellous chance to hear one of the world’s premier baroque trumpeters in action.

“David has travelled the globe with his trumpet playing, and amongst he his many recordings is Bach’s brilliant 2nd Brandenburg with Fiori Musicali.”
