Review - The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time at Milton Keynes Theatre

Portraying a character who is essentially different is an incredible challenge but one that is risen to well in this show.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time sees Christopher Boone, 15, fall under suspicion when a neighbour’s dog dies. He decides to find the real killer but it turns his life upside down.

While the condition is never named explicitly, Joshua Jenkins, playing the part of Christopher Boone, is phenomenal. He gives a difficult character a warmth, a likeability but also accurately portraying the difference between Joshua and other people.

This portrayal of the difference is helped by some excellent staging. While it might look simple, it becomes much more elaborate throughout the show.

The physicality of the other performers also helps to sell what it must be like to have Christopher’s condition in the variety of settings he finds himself.

This is a fantastic show and one worth catching and with tickets selling fast, do it while you can.

The show can be seen at Milton Keynes Theatre until Saturday. For tickets call the box office on 0844 871 7652 or visit www.atgtickets.co.uk/miltonkeynes.
