Derek Jacobi to visit Boughton House

Award-winning actor Sir Derek Jacobi will talk about his life and career in an exclusive afternoon event at Boughton House, near Geddington, on Sunday 29 November, at fundraising event staged by Royal & Derngate.

One of the founding members of the new National Theatre in the early 1960s, Sir Derek has enjoyed a successful stage, television and film career spanning over 50 years.

He is perhaps best known for his BAFTA-winning performance in BBC’s critically-acclaimed serial I, Claudius, as well as for his titular role in medieval detective drama Cadfael and his recent appearances in the ongoing BBC series Last Tango in Halifax and sitcom Vicious.

Sir Derek has also appeared in Acclaimed stage productions include Hamlet, Uncle Vanya and Oedipus the King, and is the winner of two Olivier awards, for the title role in Cyrano de Bergerac in 1983 and as Malvolio in Twelfth Night in 2009.

Following welcome drinks, Sir Derek Jacobi will be in conversation with Royal & Derngate’s Artistic Director James Dacre in the atmospheric Great Hall of the historic Boughton House, one of Britain’s grandest and best preserved stately homes, owned by the Duke of Buccleuch.

Tickets, priced £60 per person, also include a tour of the ground floor of the house and the Huguenot Exhibition. The event is rounded off with afternoon tea, accompanied by a string quartet.

An Afternoon with Sir Derek Jacobi starts at 2pm on Sunday November 29, at Boughton House, and is a fundraising event in aid of Royal & Derngate’s Future Fund.
