Fans of Northampton’s much-loved ‘chatty man’, Alan Carr, will have received emails from Royal & Derngate to inform them that the comedian’s stand up show - that was due to take place in March - has been postponed.
The comedian’s new show, titled ‘Alan Carr: Not Again, Alan!’ was originally going to take place in November 2020 as a two-night gig. This, however, had to be postponed to March as a result of the second lockdown but the show had to be pushed back again due to ongoing uncertainties around the pandemic, following the announcement of a third lockdown on January 4.

If they are unable to make the new date, they can choose to receive e-vouchers in credit which are valid for 18 months and can be spent on any event at Royal & Derngate.
A spokesperson for Royal & Derngate said: Since closure, we have moved more than 140 performances. We’re hugely grateful to all our customers for their patience and understanding during this time-consuming process, and to the many people that have chosen to retain their tickets for later performance dates. We are now contacting all customers with bookings for events up to 18 February 2021.
“Last year, the idea of Royal & Derngate being closed for nine months was an inconceivable thought. To everyone who has sent a message of support, donated to our Back Together campaign, purchased a membership or championed us on social media, thank you from all of us at Royal & Derngate.”

Hide AdAlan Carr is known for his hugely successful Chatty Man show on Channel 4 and is the son of former Northampton Town boss, Graham Carr. Alan grew up in Northampton and still visits his family in Overstone.
The one-man-show will be his first stand-up performance in over five years and his fourth solo UK tour, following the Tooth Fairy, Yap Yap Yap, and Spexy Beast.
The description of the tour says: “It's been four years since Alan last went on tour, and in that time he's managed to find himself in all sorts of dramas. Between his star-studded wedding day and becoming an accidental anarchist, from fearing for his life at border control to becoming a reluctant farmer, three words spring to mind... Not again, Alan!”
