A group of young people have worked with a professional film-maker at The Core theatre, Corby, and made a movie in a week.
Capture was made with the help of Martin Steed as part of the theatre’s Get Involved programme.
Martin, who has worked as a cameraman in the music and film industries, said: “All the ideas, acting, shooting and music came directly from the young people. It was truly staggering how much talent and commitment they gave to the project and it really shows in the final result.”
The Book, a film made during a similar project at the theatre, was shortlisted for the Northants Film Festival’s under 16 category and won Corby Councils’ Positive Activities Group visual arts award.
Creative projects manager at The Core, Lisa Byrne, who co-ordinates the Get Involved programme, said: “While Capture is too long to be entered into the Northants Film Festival, it is a fantastic example of the work that can be created by and with young people, so we will be looking to enter it for other regional film festivals to ensure it gets the recognition it deserves.”
The film was shown at a red carpet event on Saturday (March 10) for family and friends.
