Young artists’ show goes down to the woods

An exhibition featuring work from budding young artists is being shown at The Castle Theatre in Wellingborough.

The theatre, in Castle Way, is showing the work completed by a group of young people from the William Knibb Centre, Kettering.

The main theme of the work, done by teenagers aged between 14 and 15, is Fermyn Woods country park.

They have had guidance from six artists over the academic year as part of a project with Fermyn Woods Contemporary Arts.

The group has produced photographs, photobooks, films, sounds, drawings and screenprints based on the woods.

Yasmin Canvin, director of Fermynwoods Contemporary Art, said: “We are absolutely delighted with the work produced by the youngsters and the artists in the surroundings of the woods.

“It has given them a chance to develop to develop and create new ideas, and the exhibition is a wonderful collection of their work.”

People can view the gallery from 10am to 8pm from Monday to Saturday.

The exhibition runs until Saturday, March 31.

Entry to the exhibition is free.
