A play from the writer of War Horse is coming to The Core at Corby Cube as part of the commemorations of the First World War.
Private Peaceful is aimed at a family audience and is being staged by Scamp Theatre on Monday, October 20, and Tuesday, October 21.
The story tells of the life of Private Tommo Peaceful who is a young soldier in the First World War.
He is waiting for the firing squad at dawn and through the night he lookes back at his life, growing up in rural Devon.
He recalls his first days at school, the death of his father in an accident in the forest, the love of his life Molly and the injustices of war.
The book was a winner of the Blue Peter Book of the Year, and was written by former Children’s Laureate MichaelMorpurgo, who is the author of the family classic War Horse.
The play is suitable for ages eight and upwards, and can be seen at The Core on Monday, October 20, at 7.30pm and on Tuesday, October 21, at 10.30am and 1.30pm.
