AWARD-winning comedian and presenter of Never Mind The Buzzcocks and Popworld, Simon Amstell returns to Royal & Derngate tonight with a brand new stand-up tour, Numb.
Intensely vulnerable and painfully honest, the scriptwriter and performer of BBC’s critically acclaimed comedy series Grandma’s House, embarks on his first national tour in three years, once again publicly baring his soul in an attempt to heal himself.
A long-running presenter of BBC’s Never Mind The Buzzcocks, for which he won a BAFTA and a Royal Television Society Award for Best Comedy Entertainment Personality, Simon’s original comedy, blunt honesty and often controversial comments have made him one of the most distinctive comedians on the circuit.
Enjoyed by audiences and critics alike, Simon has received dazzling reviews including The Guardian’s: “The real deal. Where philosophy collides with anxiety, where Heidegger meets Woody Allen”, and from The Scotsman: “One of the most elegant, articulate, sensitive and endearing proponents of ‘Soul Comedy’ that there is”.
Numb is at the Royal & Derngate tonight at 8pm.
Tickets cost £22 and are available by calling box office on 01604 624811 or online at www.royalandderngate.co.uk.
The show is recommended for ages 14 and above.
