A trio of classic dances will be performed at Northampton’s Royal & Derngate next week to mark the 25th anniversary of the Moscow City Ballet.
The company will be staging Swan Lake, The Nutcracker and Don Quixote from Monday, January 20 to Saturday, January 25.
Moscow City Ballet Orchestra will accompany all three works, complementing the dancers’ artistry with live music.
Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake tells the story of Odette and Prince Siegfried, who are tricked by the evil sorcerer and his daughter, Odile.
Meanwhile, The Nutcracker is a classic festive treat, telling the story of Clara’s magical adventure with her Nutcracker Prince, including a visit to the delicious Land of Sweets and a trip to see the Sugar Plum Fairy.
Don Quixote is set to music by Ludwig Minkus. A fantasy story by Cervantes, it focuses on an eccentric Spanish nobleman’s travels.
Don Quixote will be performed on Monday, Swan Lake from Tuesday to Thursday and The Nutcracker on the Friday and Saturday of the run. Shows take place at 7.30pm nightly, with matinees at 2.30pm on the Wednesday and Saturday. Tickets cost £18-£35 from 01604 624811.
