Multi-award winning comedian and BAFTA-nominated filmmaker, Nina Conti, will bring a mixture of ventriloquism and stand-up comedy to The Core at Corby Cube this week.
The show, entitled Dolly Mixtures, will see Nina introduce her daughter, her handyman, her gran, her oldest friend and a stray dog into the act.
A spokesman said: “Bracingly funny and thoughtfully meditative, Dolly Mixtures touches on love, life and the edge of existence, with some poignant reflections on the art and psychology of ventriloquism, as well as a darker glimpse into Nina’s own psyche.”
Star of BBC’s Live At The Apollo, Russell Howard’s Godd News, QI and HBO’s Family Tree, Nina is also an Edinburgh Festival perennial, causing a sensation there with Barry Award-winning Complete and Utter Conti and its follow-ups, Evolution and Talk To The Hand.
Nina stormed the fringe with Dolly Mixtures in 2012 before garnering yet more critical acclaim at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
Her hotly-anticipated UK tour follows her BAFTA nomination for the 2012 documentary, A Ventriloquist’s Story: Her Master’s Voice, a brave requiem for her ex-lover and mentor, the late Ken Campbell.
Nina Conti will be at The Core on Thursday, September 26 at 7.30pm.
Tickets are £19.50, with concessions at £17.50. To book, call the ticket line on 01536 470470 or go to the theatre’s website, www.thecorecorby.com
