Whatever the weather, one theatre company is promising to offer an open-air theatrical treat for fans of Shakespeare at one of Northamptonshire’s beautiful stately homes.
Lamport Hall will provide the setting for a production of The Comedy of Errors, which is being staged by Rain or Shine Theatre Company on Saturday.
As the story goes, two sets of identical twin babies and their parents survive a shipwreck, but fate decrees that the family should be split up. Twenty five years later, two of the twins, Antipholus and Dromio, arrive in Ephesus in search of their long-lost family.
A spokesman said: “The Rain or Shine Theatre Company are planning for plenty of shine as they present what is thought to be one of Shakespeare’s first plays, The Comedy of Errors.
“Suitable for children (aged six and up), and adults of all ages, audiences are invited to take along low-backed seating or rugs, and a picnic to maximise their enjoyment of the al fresco performances.
“The company travels across the UK, visiting some of the country’s most picturesque castles, stately homes and gardens imaginable.”
