A hopeless romantic who is brilliant at everything and has an unfortunately big nose gets into a complicated love triangle in the latest in the Made In Northampton 2015 season.

Cyrano de Bergerac is a co-production between the Royal & Derngate in Northampton and Northern Stage, pictured above during rehearsals.

It tells the story of a poet and soldier who is hopelessly in love with the beautiful Roxane. But he is afraid of confessing his feelings for her for fear of rejection and so becomes her confidante.

Along comes Christian, a handsome cadet who is not the brightest but catches Roxane’s eye and Cyrano uses his skill as a poet to write love letters on his behalf.

Cyrano de Bergerac is directed by Northern Stage artistic director Lorne Campbell, who said: “Cyrano is scaled up in every way, not just his nose, but his bravery and his vulnerability, his honour and his self-loathing, his soaring poetry and his profound inarticulacy. “

Cyrano de Bergerac is at Royal & Derngate, from Friday, April 3, to Saturday, April 25. Tickets can be booked by calling 01604 624811 or at www.royalanadderngate.co.uk.
