A gothic period drama will be served up by the Irchester Players next month.

The group presents The Woman in White from Wednesday to Saturday October 12 to 15 at Parsons Hall.

The play raises questions of identity and insanity along the paths and corridors of English country houses and asylums for the insane. It captures both the Gothic horror and psychological realism of one of the most popular detective stories ever written.

On a moonlit road in Hampstead, Walter Hartright is accosted by a woman dressed from head to toe in white. She asks the way to London and no sooner has Walter directed her than he is overtaken by a carriage in pursuit of the mysterious woman, who has evidently escaped from an asylum.

From this single incident, Walter unwinds a thrilling story of abduction, madness, false identity and shameful family secrets.

Performances start at 7.30pm with doors opening at 6.45pm.

Tickets cost between £6 and £8. These can be booked by calling www.irchesterplayers.co.uk/boxoffice or call the box office on 01933 800374.
