One of the most celebrated Broadway musicals of all time will be staged in Kettering this week.
The Kettering Music and Performing Arts Centre will perform Jerry Bock’s Fiddler On The Roof tomorrow and Saturday at 7pm.
The story centres around Tevye, the father of five daughters, and his attempt to maintain his family and Jewish traditions while outside influences encroach upon their lives. Fiddler was one of the longest-running Broadway musicals, being performed for almost 10 years.
The original Broadway show, which opened in 1964, is believed to have been the first in history to be performed more than 3,000 times.
For a long time it held the record as being the longest- running show, until it lost that accolade to the musical, Grease.
The show was nominated for 10 Tony Awards and won nine.
Tickets for the local production cost £8 or £6.50. Performances will take place at The Masque Theatre, at The Latimer Arts College, in Castle Way, Barton Seagrave.
