A STAR cast heads to Milton Keynes Theatre this week as award-winning musical Chicago comes to the stage.
Starring Ali Bastian as Roxie Hart, Stefan Booth as Billy Flynn, Tupele Dorgu as Velma Kelly and Bernie Nolan as Mama Morton, Chicago plays at the theatre from Monday until Saturday, September 15.
Based on real life events back in the roaring 1920s, nightclub singer Roxie Hart shoots her lover and along with Cell Block rival, double-murderess Velma Kelly, they fight to keep from death row with the help of smooth talking lawyer, Billy Flynn.
Chicago is based on the play by Maurine Dallas Watkins and a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse. Music is by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb.
Created by the musical theatre talents of John Kander, Fred Ebb and legendary choreographer Bob Fosse, Chicago’s score includes All That Jazz and Razzle Dazzle.
The musical has garnered six Tony, two Olivier, one Grammy, two Bafta and six Academy Awards.
Tickets cost £12 to £33.50. Performances take place Monday to Thursday evenings from 7.30pm, Friday evenings from 5pm to 8.30pm and Saturday from 2.30pm to 7.30pm.
