A life story told in reverse

The Last Five Years
The Last Five Years

THE musical The Last Five Years comes to The Castle in Wellingborough next week.

The show by the Sabby Theatre Company premiered in Chicago in 2001 and was then produced off-Broadway in March 2002.

The story explores a five-year relationship between Jamie Wellerstein, a rising novelist, and Cathy Hyatt, a struggling actress.

Cathy’s story is told in reverse chronology, beginning at the end of their marriage, while Jamie’s story begins when the couple first meet.

The characters do not directly interact except for a wedding song in the middle as their timelines intersect.

The theatre group founder’s mother died of cancer, so the show is in aid of Cancer Research.

The Last Five Years runs from Monday until Wednesday with performances at 7.45pm.

Tickets cost £12.50 (concessions £10) and can be booked by calling the box office on 01933 270007 or online at www.thecastle.org.uk
