The latest play to hit the Royal stage in Northampton will cast a witty look at love through the ages.
The Royal & Derngate Actors’ Company will this week present a new production of Loveplay, a drama which is said to be ‘thought-provoking, sexual and emotionally powerful’.
Moira Buffini’s play follows a trail of seductions, transactions and romantic encounters that take place on the same square of land in London over the course of 2,000 years.
As time passes, the use of this patch of land changes too, from Roman temple to medieval abbey, from elegant townhouse to 1960s’ squat, to a modern dating agency.
Led by theatre experts, the company is open to those aged 21 and over. It offers masterclasses in performance skills such as voice, movement and text, as well as collaborations with professional directors in devising, rehearsing and performing productions.
Loveplay will be performed on Saturday, with shows at 2pm and 8.15pm. Tickets cost £8 and can be booked by calling 01604 624811 or by visiting www.royalandderngate.co.uk. The show is recommended for those aged 16 and above.
