Rockney pioneers Chas & Dave will return to the region next week for a headline gig at Kettering’s Lighthouse Theatre.
With a career spanning 40 years, the duo are without doubt one of Britain’s longest-running and best-loved pop acts.
Bursting onto the music scene in the 1970s, they recorded witty songs performed with an affection for all things English.
In the tradition of The Kinks and the Small Faces, and around the same time as Ian Dury and Squeeze, they wrote songs that spoke about life in London, using their own accents rather than the fashionable-but-fake transatlantic twang.
With hits like Gertcha, Rabbit, The Sideboard Song and Margate, they created a uniquely British sound.
Their debut album, One Fing ‘n’ Anuvver, was released in 1975 earning critical acclaim from the likes of Radio One legend, John Peel.
They play on Thursday, April 11. Doors open at 7.30pm . Tickets cost £22.50.
