One of the biggest pop bands of the 1970s, Showaddywaddy headline Royal & Derngate this weekend.
The band were famed for their retro-inspired rock ‘n’ roll hits and have sold more than 20 million records.
Formed in 1973 by the amalgamation of two groups, Choise and The Golden Hammers, the eight-member Showaddywaddy became known for their unusual band format, consisting of two vocalists, two drummers, two guitarists and two bass players.
With 50 Top Of The Pop’s performances under their belt, the group went on to top the bill at the prestigious Golden Orpheus World Music Festival, performing to a TV audience of 300 million.
Their show on Saturday will feature all of their classic hits including You’ve Got What It Takes, Under The Moon Of Love, Three Step To Heaven, Blue Moon and many more performed by original members Rod Deas on the bass and Romeo Challenger on the drums, along with guitarist Paul Dixon who joined in 2008 and new members Andy Pelos on lead vocals, Dean Loach on keyboard and second drummer Rob Hewins.
