The defining voice of contemporary English folk music, Kate Rusby, is celebrating 20 years in the music industry with a UK tour which heads to Royal & Derngate on Friday night.
Rusby’s interpretations of traditional songs and her own finely-wrought tunes have won her an audience that reaches beyond the folk genre.
Her new album, Twenty, features new recordings of Kate’s favourite songs from throughout her illustrious career.
The record has a star-studded list of collaborators, including folk giants Richard Thompson, Nic Jones, Paul Brady and Dick Gaughan, Radiohead drummer Philip Selway, American folk and country singer Mary Chapin Carpenter, Eddi Reader and many more.
A new song, Sun Grazers, sees Rusby duetting with Paul Weller.
The record has been described as an ideal introduction to new fans as well as her committed followers.
Rusby plays tomorrow, Friday, at Royal & Derngate.
Doors open at 7.30pm and tickets cost £20.
