Folk rock pioneers Steeleye Span return to the county this weekend with a show inspired by Terry Pratchett’s novel Wintersmith.

With a career spanning six decades, Steeleye Span is not just a legendary name in British music but also a link to the classic days of rock and folk music.

They have changed the face of folk, taking it from small clubs to chart topping albums and international tours.

Recently expanded to a six piece – with long term members Maddy Prior, Peter Knight, Rick Kemp and Liam Genocky joined by Pete Zorn and Julian Littman – Steeleye are sounding more powerful than ever.

They have collaborated with Pratchett on the project which is a tale of ancient rituals and secret folk dances that complements their previous work while taking it in new directions.

Steeleye Span bring their Wintersmith tour to Royal & Derngate on Friday, November 29. Doors open at 7.30pm and tickets cost £20.50.
