Music lovers in the county are set for a fun-packed spring with a bumper line-up of events announced in Rushden and the return of the Raunds Music festival.

Organisers of the Raunds Music Festival are promising a fantastic weekend after announcing a number of award-winning artists in the line-up, however they have warned tickets are selling fast.

Bob Fisher, who is one of the organisers, said: “It is going to be a fantastic atmosphere this year and people will really get their money’s worth.

“It will be something special, after all it’s not very often you get so many award winning artists performing at the same venue in this county.

“However, we do have a high demand for tickets so I would suggest people act quickly so they don’t miss out.”

The festival will take place over the first bank holiday weekend in May from Thursday to Sunday, May 2 to 5.

The line-up includes five award winning artists, including, 2012 BBC Radio 2 Folk Musician of the Year winner Tim Edey and last year’sHorizon award winner Lucy Ward.

Tickets are on sale and can be ordered online at www.raundsfestival.com or by ringing 0775601515.

It has also been announced that Rushden’s annual event, Music in the Park, will return next month and will run until September.

Bands and local artists will perform on the second Sunday of every month, apart from July, and organisers are hopeful the weather will be on their side.

Rushden town councillor Gill Mercer said: “Last year the weather wasn’t really with us, but we are hoping for some sunny days this time around as it really is a lovely community thing.

“Come along and bring a chair and a picnic and just chill out and have some fun.

“It should just be a lovely time.

“It’s a beautiful setting and a great place to bring your family along too.”

The performances will be held in the walled garden of Rushden Hall Park, Hall Avenue, and will be free to enter.

Acts confirmed

A number of the acts for Rushden Music in the Park have been announced, with all sessions running from 3pm to 5pm on the scheduled day.

The first event will take place on Sunday, May 12, with the Raunds Temperance Band performing.

Wississipi Jazzmen will headline on the Sunday, June 9, date.

There will be no performance in July, because Party in the Park will be hosted in Rushden in that month.

The band for August 11 is yet to be confirmed and Angel’s Share will perform on September 8.
