The owners of a coffee shop have applied for permission to serve alcohol and host live music events.

Tony and Andrea Peel, who own Java Java in Sheep Street, Kettering, have also just added an outside seating area to the shop.

Java Java only opened in February but the owners believe its success proves coffee shops can thrive in the area.

Mr Peel said: “We’ve entered a planning application to be able to hold live music events and sell alcohol.

“We hope to be able to do that on the first weekend in June, with live music on the Sunday.

“We want to offer people the opportunity to come in and have a glass of wine or a bottle of beer.”

Mr Peel said the shop is also being used as a venue for local groups to hold meetings.
