There is plenty to keep music fans occupied across Northamptonshire in the coming weeks and to brighten up these cold winter days.

Just a reminder, first of all, that The Castle theatre, Wellingborough, will be continuing its lunchtime series tomorrow at 12.30pm with a performance by the Aurora Trio (on flute, harp and viola), playing an arrangement of a Handel Trio Sonata. Tickets cost £10, including a buffet lunch. Call 01933 270007 for details.

The Northampton Concert Band is planning a concert on Saturday, March 1 at 7.30pm, which will take place at the Cripps Recreational Centre at Northampton General Hospital. Following a recruitment drive, the band has acquired seven new members, boosting their number to more than 50. The forthcoming concert will include big band numbers associated with the likes of Glenn Miller and Frank Sinatra, as well as Beethoven’s Egmont Overture.

Tickets cost £10 for adults. See www.northamptonconcertband.org.uk or ring 07561 390099.

The current music season at Stowe School also has a packed agenda, including Pletnev’s piano arrangement of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite, which will be performed by Martino Tirimo on Wednesday, February 26 at 7pm. The programme will also include works by Chopin. Tickets cost £8. To book, visit the website, www.stowearts.co.uk.

Please let us know about any forthcoming concerts. I will be on maternity leave from next week, but the new contact will be david.jackson@northantsnews.co.uk
