Have your say

This is the last Classical Notes column before January and I have plenty of Christmas concert news to share with readers.

The Weston Favell Singers will be hosting a festive concert at Park Avenue Methodist Church, in Park Avenue North, Northampton, on Saturday, December 21 at 7.30pm. The programme will include John Rutter’s Colours Of Christmas & Candlelight Carol as well as popular songs, such as Little Donkey and White Christmas. Tickets cost £5 (including refreshments). For tickets, call 01604 760182. Proceeds will go to The Motor Neurone Disease Charity and the church.

On the same date, Wellingborough Orpheus Choir will be presenting choruses and arias from Handel’s Messiah, as well as Christmas Carols, in a concert at the United Reformed Church in High Street, Wellingborough. The soprano soloist will be Hannah Moodie and Mark Pescott will be at the organ. The event will start at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £9 or £5 for students, available on the door or from 01604 870318.

Also coming up this month is the annual concert of Christmas Music by The Seasonal Singers, at Abington Avenue United Reformed Church. The event will be held on Thursday, December 19 at 7.30pm. The evening’s entertainment will include a mix of carols. Included will be a new carol written by local composer David Haddon and There Is No Rose Of Such Vertu from Benjamin Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols. Admission is free, with a retiring collection in aid of outreach work at the Northampton church.
