November will be a busy one in the music calendar and there are plenty of events to look forward to.
The Swarbrick Singers, which were formed 30 years ago, are set to stage an autumn concert ‘In Praise of St Cecilia,’ on Saturday, November 16, at 7.30pm.
The event, which will take place at Abington Avenue United Reformed Church, will celebrate the music written in this saint’s honour. The programme will include Britten’s Hymn to St Cecilia, Purcell’s Welcome to all the Pleasures, Bach’s Der Geist Hilft and Howells’ Hymn to St Cecilia.

This month will also see a concert by the Northampton Chamber Choir, which is due to take place on Saturday, November 23, at 7.30pm.
The concert, which will be held at St Matthew’s Church in Northampton and directed by Stephen Moore, will include the Requiem and other works by John Rutter, as well as music by Britten, Whitaker, Howells and Charles Wood. Tickets are available on 01604 635959 or from St Giles Music, Northampton.
Just another reminder that a concert entitled ‘We Will Remember Them’ will be held on Saturday at 7.30pm, at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Northampton. The event will include performances by the John Cleveland Band. Pre-booking is advised. Call 01604 754782. Admission costs £11.
