Celebrated violinist Monica Huggett will be making an appearance in Northamptonshire when she joins Fiori Musicali for a concert at Fawsley’s church.
Internationally recognised for her performances of Bach’s solo music for the violin, Monica’s CV is impressive. She was introduced to the Baroque violin in her teens and now tours the world as a soloist, director and chamber musician. She has recorded hundreds of CDs with major labels and is now artistic director of the Portland Baroque Orchestra and the Irish Baroque Orchestra.
The concert, in which Monica will play violin music written for 17th century Venice, will take place at 7pm on Sunday. Tickets cost £20 and are available by calling 01327 360931 or visiting www.fiori-musicali.com. Discounts available for children, students, unemployed and blue badge holders.
Also this weekend, the Spectrum Choir and soloists, directed by Janet Spence, will give a ‘Music on a late summer evening’ concert at Warkton Church near Kettering, at 7.30pm. The concert will be held on Saturday and tickets cost £8 or £7, including a glass of wine. Ring 01536 522450.
This will be a busy weekend of music as, also on Saturday, a concert of organ music will be given at St Mary’s Church, Wellingborough. Organists include Christopher Colby, Mark Raban and Ben Sinclair. The concert will be held at 11.30am. Admission is free, with retiring collection.
I always like to hear from local choirs, orchestras and other music groups. If anyone would like to see a forthcoming concert featured within this column, please email me or ring 01604 467046.
