The musical talent of the county’s youngsters will be brought into the limelight in some of the concerts planned for the coming week.
A Gala Concert will be performed at the Royal & Derngate in Northampton on Sunday at 7.30pm by the award-winning Northamptonshire County Youth Orchestra, organised by the Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust (NMPAT)
The programme will include Holst’s Ballet Suite: The Perfect Fool and Rachmaninov’s Symphony No. 2 in E Minor. Tickets cost £11, £13 or £15.
NMPAT’s String Sinfonia will also be joining younger musicians from Middleton Cheney, Towcester, Daventry, Brackley and Roade, as well as adult players from the Fiori Musicali Chamber Orchestra in a Baroque Strings concert at Nicholas Hawksmoor School, Towcester on Saturday at 7.30pm.
Youngsters have been working alongside Fiori’s players at their regular Saturday sessions around the district. The programme will include music by Vivaldi and Bach. Tickets cost £20 or £15. Ring 01327 360931.
Fiori’s director Penelope Rapson will also be making an appearance at a Music Appreciation evening at The Castle in Wellingborough on Wednesday, starting at 7.30pm. There will be a chance to have fun exploring the world of Handel and the early 18th century. Tickets cost £7.50.
Another concert this weekend will be Northampton Concert Band’s Best of British evening (including music by Elgar, Holst and Elton John) at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Sheep Street, Northampton, starting at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £10. Ring 01604 459790.
