Barb brings a female slant to Dylan’s classics

Internationally renowned for her unique vocals and radical re-interpretations, Barb Jungr brings her take on the Bob Dylan songbook to Royal & Derngate tomorrow night.

Her acclaimed live performances and recordings have revealed Barb as one of Europe’s most exciting singers, drawing comparisons with Nina Simone, Peggy Lee and Edith Piaf.

In 2002 she released Every Grain of Sand, her first album of Dylan compositions, and a second collection, The Man in the Long Black Coat, followed in 2011. Barb’s interpretations of some of Dylan’s most popular songs draw on the influences she has absorbed during her career, from cabaret to European jazz. Her imaginative re-workings, which give a female’s perspective on a traditionally male body of work, not only reveal her passion for Dylan’s songs but also her great skill as an interpreter and singer.

Doors open at 7.45pm and tickets cost £16.
