THERE is fun promised on, and beside the water, this weekend as the Blisworth Canal Festival takes place on Saturday and Sunday.
Plenty of children’s activities are taking place including the play boat ‘Funion Bragee,’ which will be moored on the waterfront and offer free supervised play sessions from 12 to 4pm both days.
For a donation, children can enjoy a boat trip to the tunnel and back on the St John boat (as seen in the Jubilee Pageant). There are also pony rides and owls, chickens, ferrets and parrots, a Laser Adventure Arena and a chance to observe a bee hive.
For adults there is free live music, a real ale and cider bar, food including a pig roast on both days, rural craft demonstrations, boat trips, trade boats and traders selling a variety of items.
There are free guided heritage walks at 11am on Saturday and 2pm on Sunday abd The Northants Ramblers will meet behind the car park behind the Village Hall at 10am on both days for circular walks.
Storyteller Pete Boyce will be joined by The Dog Kennel Hill Project Theatre Group to entertain throughout the weekend, and more attractions are set to be booked before the weekend.
The event and parking is free. The only charge is for the 10 Open Gardens on Sunday, £4 for adults, £3.50 for concessions with U14 free.
