Fairport’s Cropredy Convention returns next week with bands including The Waterboys and Marillion joining Fairport Convention at the sold-out festival.
The annual Cropredy festival takes place on the Northamptonshire and Oxfordshire border from Thursday, August 7 to Saturday, August 9.
In keeping with tradition, the festival will be opened by Fairport Convention playing an acoustic set. Also on the Thursday is Joe Broughton’s Conservatoire Folk Ensemble, Capercaillie, Steve Hackett and The Waterboys.
Friday will see performances by The Australian Pink Floyd Show, Chas & Dave, The Wonder Stuff, The Travelling Band, Churchfitters, Ben Folke Thomas, Edwina Hayes, Deborah Rose and the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Musicians of the Year.
The Sunday will be headlined by Fairport Convention with support from Al Stewart, Marillion, Cara Dillon, Treetop Flyers, Reg Meuross, Blackbeard’s Tea Party and Richard Digance.
Tickets for Cropredy Convention are sold out and will not be available on the day. Festival director Gareth Williams said: “The capacity of our site is limited by the premises license as well as considerations of safety and comfort. Once we reach our capacity of 20,000, that’s it.”
