Ad Parnassum’s brings L’OFFERTA MUSICALE Orchestra da Camera di Venezia back to St Mary the Virgin, Church Hill, Finedon, on Saturday with Boccherini’s ‘Stabat Mater’, an appropriate concert in the lead-up to Easter.
The orchestra are in the experienced hands of Maestro Riccardo Parravicini, who will be conducting and Ad Parnassum, ever enthusiastic about supporting new talent introduces Italian soprano Anna Giulia Simioni.
A spokesman for the organisers said: “This is a wonderful chance to hear this unjustly forgotten work by (what 18th century patrons called) the ‘Divine’ Boccherini.
“A great innovator of cello technique, Boccherini’s compositions reveal the cello in all its glory. His ‘Stabat Mater’ (1781) is one of his most famous works.”
There will be cream tea served before-hand in the church. This will be served at 3.15pm with the concert starting at 4pm.
