An amateur group is to present a wickedly good time with a scary show at The Core at Corby Cube next week.

The Corby Amateur Theatrical Society (CATS) will stage the musical comedy The Witches of Eastwick based on the film of the same name. It runs from Wednesday May 27 to Saturday May 30.

Set in the small town of Eastwick, population just over 7,000, the story is based around three females, Alexandra Spofford, Jane Smart, and Sukie Rougemont. Frustrated with their boring lives – and fed up with the men the town has to offer – their shared longing for someone special is granted in the form of a charming and sinister stranger called Darryl Van Horne.

It isn’t long until all three women are drawn to his mysterious powers of persuasion and his ability to bring out their hidden talents – but at what cost for the rest of the town?

Bring in nosy do-gooder Felicia Gabriel, who is intent on exposing Van Horne and driving him out of town, creates a devilishly good story.

CATS have worked tirelessly over the last year to fundraise the money to fly their witches on a West End flying rig that costs over £3,500.

Janet Askew, chairman of CATS, said: “It’s an energetic show with great music, and director Jon Berridge has assembled an incredible cast that includes a lot of local talent

“I am extremely proud of our multi-talented cast and all those who have helped us fundraise to bring this fantastic, energetic and spellbinding spectacular to the stage at the Core.”
