Each week we will be bringing you a professional tip of the week from top photography studio Beck Photographic of Wellingborough.
Try a window light portrait. If it is a sunny day, then put some sort of diffusion over the window i.e. a thin bedsheet, although an overcast day works best.
Position your subject at an angle near the window so that three-quarters or half of their face is illuminated.
If you find that the dark side of the face is too dark, then you can try a reflector made out of a large white piece of cardboard to fill in some of the shadows.
You should get a beautiful soft light portrait. This soft lighting is very flattering for females and children!
Try this out for yourself and send the results to Beck Photographic. We will print the best on our website.
