Student Jordan Gray decided to take steps to offer street dance lessons.

When the 18-year-old, who is studying pyschology at De Montfort University, Leicester, realised there wasn’t much on offer in Corby, he launched The Free School of Dance in the town. Jordan, a former pupil of The Kingswood School, in the town, who lives in Beanfield Avenue, Corby, said: “I’ve been street and breakdancing since I was 11 and because there didn’t seem to be many people offering lessons in the town, I decided to organise my own. I’m a qualified teacher and, although the sessions have only been going a few months, I’ve had a great response.”

The lessons are held every Friday at Beanfield Community Centre, Beanfield Avenue, from 5pm to 6pm for seven to 11-year-olds and 6pm to 7pm for youngsters over 11. The cost is £2.50 a session, or £35 for 10 lessons and admission to an end of term show.

Jordan said: “I would like to recruit more dancers for the older age group. People don’t need to have any dance experience.” For details call 07740 265881.
