A new school hall will provide hot meals for children and space for PE lessons.
The Bingham Hall, named after former headteacher Sally Bingham, and adjoining library was unveiled at Rushton Primary School.
Mrs Bingham was on hand to cut the ribbon, having campaigned for the construction of a new hall during her tenure.
Current headteacher Cathy Fountain said: “We’re absolutely delighted with the new building.
“We used to use the village hall for meetings and PE lessons but we had outgrown it. Using it was becoming more and more difficult.
“We can now have proper PE lessons, assemblies and hot school meals.”
