IN TROUBLE - Wasps prop Tim Payne

Wasps prop Tim Payne has been slapped with a two-week ban for striking Saints wing Vasily Artemyev with a knee during the game at Franklin’s Gardens last Friday.

Payne was given a yellow card just before half-time in Wasps’ 24-6 defeat, with referee Dave Pearson referring the incident to TMO Trevor Fisher.

The front row forward looked to have got off lightly and so it proved after a report from RFU citing officer Shaun Gallagher landed him in trouble.

Payne is now suspended until October 15 after pleading guilty at the Royal Courts of Justice on Tuesday afternoon.
