Jim Mallinder expects Dom Waldouck to be the only Saints absentee for next Saturday’s Premiership final showdown with Leicester.

That means Calum Clark and Courtney Lawes, who both limped off in the win at Saracens on Sunday, and George Pisi, who missed the game with a hamstring problem, should all be fit.

The trio have been in training this week and barring any further injuries on the paddock, Saints will have a strong squad to choose from.

Waldouck, though, remains sidelined as he continues to recover from a hamstring problem that required surgery.

“We’re pretty pleased with our fitness,” said Mallinder. “We’ve got Dom Waldouck, who won’t make the final unfortunately, but apart from that we’re in good shape.

“The players have been out training again. George Pisi has been out running and those who went off with knocks are fine, they’ve all trained fully.

“Hopefully come Monday we’re training from a good strong, squad of players.”

Saints will go into next weekend’s grand final on the back of a performance at Saracens that Mallinder felt was his side’s best of the season so far.

Northampton scored three tries in the 27-13 success at Allianz Park and it left their director of rugby in good spirits.

“It was one of our best performances, without a doubt,” said Mallinder. “Particularly in the first half, our intensity and line speed in defence was outstanding.

“It’s given us a lot of confidence. There was a lot of talk going into the Saracens game that we hadn’t beaten a top team, and now we’ve proven we can.

“On our day, we’re a very good side, so we’ve got the confidence, but we know Leicester and we’re not going to underestimate them at all.”
