Samu Manoa believes he is in better form now than when he earned the Saints player-of-the-year prize last season.
The powerhouse American forward scooped the players’ and supporters’ awards at Franklin’s Gardens at the end of the previous campaign.
But he has been even more influential this time round, racking up nine tries, making Manoa the club’s current top scorer.
And the man himself feels he is now in his best form since he joined Saints from San Francisco Golden Gate in 2011.
“I think I’m playing a little bit better than last season,” said Manoa.
“I think I’m understanding the game more. This is my third season here and I’m still learning the game.
“I’m learning from some good coaches and I do think I’m playing better this season.
“I’m getting the basics right more, timing my hits better and coming off the line on defence, but I’ve still got a whole lot to learn and I’m taking it step by step.”
